BLINDSTART of America

BLINDSTART was founded in 2006 by Brian Tom, a visually impaired entrepreneur. Always wanting to be first, he and his growing team of supporters offered the first blind/blind-folded mud run in 2009. The next year, BLINDSTART became the first blind dragonboat racing team at the Long Beach Dragonboat Festival. Our events bridge the gap between the blind and sighted, and give our participants an insight into two different worlds. We liberate blind individuals by having events through which they can participate in mainstream activities and raise awareness of blindness in America.

CPAD

"Chinese Parents Association for the Disabled, more commonly known as just CPAD, is a non-profit organization that provides aid to families with special needs children. CPAD meets monthly and parents will listen to seminars and presentations that are relevant to improving their children's lives. CPAD also hosts special events throughout the year like the annual Christmas Party where children sing along with guest performers and show off their other talents."

St. Irenaeus Church

"Each 1st and 3rd Saturday, the St. Irenaeus Church holds a HOPE Food Bank, designed to provide affordable food to those in need of it. There are a variety of items ranging from all sorts of produce to items like baby formula, and Key Clubbers are involved in setting up for the event and assissting in distributing that food in an orderly manner."

"For this event, volunteers help create decorations and letters for Buena Park Nursing Home. Often times, the nursing home ambience can get really dull for the residents who rarely have any visitors coming in. So during the holiday seasons, Key Club offers to make such crafts to decorate the halls and rooms of Buena Park Nursing Home."
