WHITNEY KEY CLUB
SERVICE EVENTS
Caring - Our Way of Life
We are not only a mere "volunteering" club. Although we all are unique in our ways, Key Clubbers are united together with our passion to serve with new and old friends. The events listed on this page are only a snippet of countless opportunities to give back to the community. Our Directors of Activities send out emails, which all contain numerous events. Each event has detailed information describing what will be done, where, and when. Currently, most of our service events have been ones where we can do from home due to the pandemic.
ROSE FLOAT DECORATING
Rose Float decorating is one of the most anticipated events of the year. Not only is it super enjoyable being able to contribute to the same floats that will be used in the renowned Rose Parade, but it is also a long event; a great way to earn hours!
LOCK-IN
At the beginning of every January, Whitney Key Club holds our annual Lock-In in the Whitney High School's MPR. Starting in the early hours of the morning to mid-afternoon, members are invited to attend this 9-hour service event where they are given the opportunity to bond with other wildcats and participate in numerous service events.
REOCCURING EVENTS
Four service events happen repeatedly. The Hope Food Bank occurs on the first and third Saturdays of every month. The Cerritos Farmers Market takes place every Saturday. The Bolsa Chica Land Trust happens every first Sunday and third Saturday of each month. Technior occurs every Monday. All of these events focus on giving back to the community in different ways, and details could be found on the Directors of Activities' weekly emails!
BAKE SALES
Bake sales are a great way to earn hours! Members could volunteer to work at the bake sale or bake goods that would be sold. All proceeds will be donated to the fundraiser that Key Club is focusing on, depending on the time that the bake sale occurs. For example, if a bake sale occurs in July, funds will be donated to the Pediatric Trauma Program. However, if one occurs in April, funds will be ponated to the ELIMINATE project.
